Community and Technology (SRTT)

With the intention of linking technology inputs with participatory planning processes, we have initiated efforts in three villages, Semrdangi, Shahpur Kodia and Semlikhurd in Sehore block to prepare a comprehensive Village Development Proposal to be presented before the officialdom in order that an exemplar be created to lead such initiatives of the government. The exercise is being undertaken under the guidance of a country planner, and especially focuses on suggesting measures for socio-economic upliftment of the community and the village as a whole.

The exercise was designed in accordance with persistence feedbacks from the community and a range of other actively involved stakeholders, that the exercise of the village level planning would result in much better outcomes if the inventory of every single village prepared is to the minutest detail, issues and modes of redressal are discussed at the level of every single household detail and as a first step the processes being run at the chosen villages have taken due to cognizance in this regard. Technological inputs are being integrated with participatory planning practices to create digital information maps helping in resource planning and spatial set-ups.

Value of Information In Gram Swaraj

The impact of the training on Gram Swaraj can be seen in Rafiqgunj Panchayat of Sehore district, Madhya Pradesh, where, subsequent to the training of the Gram Sabha members, the Panchayat Resource Centre was approached by them for extracting information regarding the selection of the Treasurer of the Gram Sabha. The information provided at the Centre clarified confusions regarding the educational criteria and the misinformation about the post of the treasurer. Resultantly, the Gram Sabha members were able to select a treasurer as well as become aware of his roles and responsibilities.
