Report Card

Samarthan has brought out Report Cards on a variety of services intended for the poor. Report cards are participatory surveys which provide perceptual information on the quality, adequacy and efficiency of public services. It summarises the process, the roadblocks and recommendations. It is an advocacy document as well as an instrument to promote accountability in the governance of these programmes.

Report Card on Social Security:

According to a survey by the Panchayat and Social Justice Department, the state has a population of 9,11,082 destitutes. The central and state governments have launched a variety of schemes to provide regular financial assistance to various categories of the destitutes. However, the benefits often do not reach the needy because of lack of accountability of local administration and low dergress of participation from the citizen and community organization.
