People in Jhangirpura improve punctuality of ANM and Anganwadi worker

The village of Jahangirpura is situated 7 km from the district headquarters. There are 200 families and its total population is 2114. The youth facilitators are Mr Raju Lodhi and Ms Seema Lodhi. Most of the villagers eke out a living through labour.

The ANM for the village did not come regularly or punctually. The ANM did do a village survey but she did not visit the poorest sections in the village whose children always missed out on the vaccination. The group of girls started monitoring the visits of the ANM. When the ANM came to know about this she became punctual in her visits to the villages. The group also ensured that the children of all the hamlets in the village were vaccinated.

Similarly, the Anganwadi did not open on time as the Anganwadi helper was always late. Only 20 children attended the Anganwadi. The quality of the food was also very poor. Often the food tasted stale. The group of girls went and talked to the helper who agreed to become punctual by buying a vehicle which would enable her reach quickly. The quality of food also improved after regular monitoring of its preparation. The group convinced parents to send their children to the Anganwadi and now 53 children attend the Anganwadi.
