Since 2008, Samarthan with the support of UNFPA is working on a project aimed at improving reproductive health among adolescents through the use of life skills in 205 villages of Sehore district. Trained youth facilitators in each village have developed groups of boys, girls and young couples who are oriented on issues of health and motivated to use reproductive health services.
In order to share our experiences and also learn from the best practices and lessons of others in the field, We are organising a workshop on 12th and 13th December, 2011. There are three main themes for the workshop:
• RH education of adolescent youth: challenges and strategies
• Risks before adolescent youth: substance abuse, sexual behaviour and violence
• Usage of RH services by adolescents and married women
Each theme will have presentations from experienced professionals from the sector followed by a panel discussion. Mr. Narotham Mishra, Minister of Health, Govt. of MP (TBC) will be the chief guest for the workshop. The panel will be comprised of senior bureaucrats, UNFPA officials and heads of reputed institutions working in the health sector. Additionally there will be volunteers and youth from the field who will talk about their experiences as well.
